I believe that the CentOS on the goautodial install cd does not have the correct drivers causing the Nic card to stop working. I would try installing CentOS 5 or 6(depending on what version of Goautodial you are intalling) to see if you are getting the same issues. I believe the only solution is to do a manual install after you
have it working on CentOS then try to do an install from scratch.

This is due to a missing file, a corrupt package or corrupt media.
Please verify your installation source.
If you exit, your system will be left in an inconsistent state that will likely require reinstallation.
Reboot Retry”

I’m guessing it’s not loading the drivers needed for the Ethernet because as stated before the connection is severed once install is started.

Can anybody help please shed some light on how to solve this?

Thanks Daniel for the input, I will investigate that method, I’m not fluent on using linux, but I’m guessing the install CD will undo any work I may do, my next question would be, can I rework the install CD to incorporating the correct drivers?

It was just suggested to me that I could install another network card; does anyone know which cards the install (goautodial-64bit-ce-3.3-final.iso) supports? as I think this would be the easiest option available to me.

I don't believe there is anyway to change the drivers on the cd, but if you can install a Nic card that would be your best option. Look at CentOS as that is the OS that goautodial install cd runs off of. Find what Nic cards will not give you a problem. I never had a problem with Realtek they always worked for me.

Thanks Daniel, this arrived in post yesterday (Intel Pro/1000 PT Desktop Adapter Gigabit Network Card (Low Profile), I'll get it tested and post the results later.

Finally got success after days of profuse head scratching, pulling, prodding and two NIC cards later, only to find out that a good dose of BIOS update would cure everything, it fired up the internal NIC card and remedied my grub issues, thank you all…case closed.
