How to Upgrade to Asterisk 1.8

Hi Guys,

Due to popular demand, Asterisk 1.8 is now supported. Here's the HOWTO: How to Upgrade to Asterisk 1.8.

This is based from the patched version of Asterisk 1.8.23 by the Vicidial group. 8)

We're still working on the 32bit version. We'll keep you posted.

Asterisk 1.8.X 32bit is now available. Same instructions in the Wiki. Let us know how it goes.

well, Upgrade to asterisx 1.8 didn't went smooth. Gave a Dependency error "missing asterisk-sounds-core-en-gsm".

I managed to solve that using following commands.

wget http://downloads2.goautodial.org/centos/5/current/x86_64/RPMS/asterisk-sounds-core-en-gsm-1.4.21-1_centos5.go.noarch.rpm
rpm -i asterisk-sounds-core-en-gsm-1.4.21-1_centos5.go.noarch.rpm

Is this 32bit or 64bit ISO? We can't seem to recreate the problem on a newly installed 64bit and 32bit GOautodial CE 3.0. Even updating the system via "yum update" and then installing Asterisk 1.8 doesn't reproduce the issues above. Can you tell us more on your system and the steps you did?
