GoAutodial 2.1 GRUB default

Hi,

I have a CE 2.1 installed from iso and unfortunately the root password was lost.

Trying to reset root via GRUB single user login, but the GRUB splash screen doesn't have the edit or append options.

Instead it has p, " or 'p' to enter a password to unlock the next set of features"
which is a password prompt for edit or append single mode init.

Is there a default password for this that I can find?
Kindly share any other alternative.

Try using a Linux live USB for password recovery. CE 2.1 is more than 5 years old. Can't remember if there was any password set on the Grub boot loader.
