do I have to have a static IP ?

Added by Matt Gilbert over 9 years ago

I have downloaded, but not yet installed goautodial, but I was looking at the getting started instructions, and it says to uncheck the DHCP and enter my static IP. I do not have a static IP, I have DSL with dynamic IP, and my DSL modem and router use DHCP to assign IP's to the various machines I have.

Presuming I can go ahead with DHCP IP assigning - I presume the next step would be to use a browser, on another machine to then log in and finish the setup and set up my campaigns, etc etc. I use linux anyway, so I know my public IP can be found with ifconfig but how do I know the address to log into since the machine with the goautodial system, would it be like doing an SSH log in?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Matt,

It is better to have a static IP on your dialer, so every time you shutdown or restart the dialer, you do not have to run update_server_ip. You can set a local static IP instead of Public IP.

You can login directly on your server and check the local ip address that was assigned on your dialer.

Thanks
