goautodial and centos original kernel
Added by Saleh Madi over 11 years ago
I have install the "goautodial-32bit-ce-3.0-final" and I see the kernel name end with ".go"
[root@go ~]# uname -a
Linux go.goautodial.org 2.6.18-348.12.1.el5.go #1 SMP Wed Jul 17 21:06:16 EDT 2013 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
What is the difference between the goautodial kernel changes and original centos kernel and when I do "yum update" I see the centos original kernel newer than the goautodial kernel.
Can I update to latest kernel from centos updates.
Thanks...
Saleh

It's safe to use the default CentOS kernel. The .go kernel is modified for server preemption (no preemption) while the default CentOS is for desktop preemption. To know more about them: http://kernelnewbies.org/FAQ/Preemption.
